Preschool education on its way to excellence

Abstract

Research Question (RQ): How to achieve high quality preschool education, the purpose of which is to guide the
child to selfovercoming and excellent achievements?
Purpose: The purpose of this article is to review the literature of current guidelines of the concept of quality and
excellence at the level of preschool education and consequently open discourse for further research.
Method: In the review article, we selected literature from different databases (Google Scholar, Google Books,
Springer Link, dLib), a catalog of Slovenian libraries - COBISS, European information network in the field of
education - Eurydice and web archives of periodicals, books, etc. Keywords were universal excellence, quality
and kindergartens, achievements of children in preschool education, children's competencies for the future, with
mentioned limitations we determined the relevance of search results.
Results: Providing quality in early childhood education and dedvelopment of child competencies (social,
emotional , language and cognitive , mathematical , natural and artistic competence) leads to efficient
confrontations with the individual barriers or opportunities, and ensures success and excellence both in the later
work, as in life in general.
Organisation: Continued research of the quality of preschool education opens a business opportunities in the field
of private education.
Society: Theoretical background opens the way for new discourse in the field of early childhood education, which
should be designed for excellent and quality achievements of future generations.
Originality: Review article serves as a theoretical background for new models of preschool education, and as a
vantage point for further research and potential application of the new model of preschool education.
Limitations/Further research: Theoretical background is not supported by results obtained by a suitable method.
The latter fact can be define as the possibility for empirical research.
