Lifelong Learning in the third age

Research Question (RQ): What is the meaning of learning in the third period of life? Do gerontology makes for
elderly life easier and allows them longer lasting independence?
Purpose: The purpose of our research is to explore the significance of learning / teaching people in the third age.
Older adults want to be active, helpful and involved in social activities, they want to be in step with the times for
that they need to develop new skills.
Method: We used qualitative and descriptive approach based on the study of theoretical content and use of the
existing literature.
Results: The results showed that the main purpose of lifelong learning involved in instrumental objectives and
economic efficiency. Is carried out in order to enhance the competence of the workforce and mobility between jobs on the labor market. We have found that the conclusions from both domestic and foreign literature unified,
they have opinion that education is the key for older adults to have better quality of life in old age.
Organization: The survey reminded how older adults with limited education, since many of these not know
where they can be educated. Greater emphasis needs to be done on advertisement for older adults that they will
know where to turn if they have the desire for education.
Originality: Knowledge is the body of information that can help you in life. People are different and they have a
different view on knowledge and on education, so in the article we showed the opinions of the various authors.
Limitations/Future Research: The study was made on the basis of academic articles, literature from books and
literature from the Internet.
