Vpliv čustvene inteligentnosti na uspešnost zavarovalnih zastopnikov

Research question: Research question is whether differences with regard to the emotional intelligence of insurance agents have some impact on their performance.
Purpose: The purpose of our paper is to determine the importance of measuring emotional intelligence in order to include it as a criterion to employ new insurance agents.
Method: We employ scientific description to collect and select existing findings, to compare and interpret them as well as the qualitative case study of the biggest insurance company. We measure the performance of insurance agents by their income in the year 2015.
Organization: The results suggest including the emotional intelligence as a criterion for selecting and employing new employees.
Society: We should include the acquisition of knowledge and skills regarding emotional intelligence into the educational programmes.
Originality: It is the first such study in Slovenia in the insurance industry.
Limitations / further research: We limited our research to the biggest insurance company in Slovenia. We suggest including longitudinal approach in the future. We also suggest implementing comparative studies with other insurance companies in Slovenia as well as in the other states.
