Abstract

Research question (RQ): Is it possible to use the method of searching for opportunities for developing new products also outside of the metal-working industry for which it was developed?

Method: A methodological approach to verifying whether the method is universal will be based on tests in different environments and organisations.

Results: Using the method in different environments and organisations has confirmed that it can be used universally.

Organisation: The organisations, included in the research, have upgraded the competences of their research teams and investigated their development potential that could later be exploited. The executed method contributes to the excellence of an organisation as well as the participating individuals.

Society: Once the universality of the method has been confirmed, it will allow its widespread use in the society.

Originality: The method is original, as well as the approach to transfer an industrial practice to a completely different sphere and organisational form, where it becomes successfully established. Originality is also in the fact that the execution of the method is basically about learning and exploring your own organisation, market and trends.

Limitations/future research: One of the main limitations is the long duration to execute the methods, which can take over a year. The other limitation lies in the fact that the broad leadership of an organisation should approve of executing the method. The focus of future research will be on tailoring the method to personal planning of people's own development.
